BreastFest Raises More Than £15,000 for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Dersingham community comes together to raise £15,192.78 for local cancer and breast care services

The first-ever BreastFest, organised by local charity Breast of Friends, has raised an incredible £15,192.78 for the Breast Care and Cancer Care Units at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn.

Held at The Pastures behind the Coach & Horses in Dersingham, the festival brought the community together for a day of music, entertainment, food, and fundraising in support of services that are vital to local families.

Created by Breast of Friends, the event aimed to introduce something new to Dersingham while raising funds to support patients receiving treatment at the Hospital.

The total raised was made possible through the generosity of amazing business sponsors, and everyone who attended, donated or volunteered in support of the event.

Claire Ling, Chair Trustee of Breast of Friends, said: “We honestly cannot thank everyone enough. To see our first BreastFest come together and then discover that we have raised £15,192.78 is absolutely incredible. BreastFest was about bringing the community together, having fun and creating something really special, but most importantly it was about raising money to support the Breast Care and Cancer Care Units at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“There are so many people who made this possible — our amazing committee and volunteers, business sponsors, performers and everyone who came along on the day. Every donation helps us make a real difference to people receiving treatment locally. We are incredibly proud of what the community has achieved together and so grateful to every single person who played a part.”

Mel, Trustee of Breast of Friends, added: “It has been a real learning curve for all of us, with plenty of challenges along the way, but what makes me incredibly proud is the way we have pulled together as a team. Everyone has played their part, and together we have created something truly special.

“For me personally, being able to make a dream come true for Claire made the whole experience even more meaningful. Seeing that dream become a reality and watching everyone come together to make it happen is something I will never forget. We have not only created an amazing event and raised a fantastic amount of money, but also memories that I hope will stay with us all for many years to come.

“Thank you to every single person who gave their time, energy, ideas, support and hard work. BreastFest was a team effort in every sense of the word, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved together. Here’s to BreastFest, to Claire, to an incredible team, and to the memories we’ve made. Will we do another one? Never say never!”

Breast of Friends extends its thanks to the businesses whose support helped make BreastFest possible.

Bespoke Construction Group were the event’s main business sponsor, with additional support from Britton’s Estate Agents, Day Secure and the Coach and Horses. Entertainment was sponsored by Advance Engineering and Barrett Batchelor Mortgage Services, while the VIP Area was sponsored by Stebbings. The charity also thanks the many other local businesses that contributed through sponsorship and services.

Ms Ling added: “We really cannot thank our local businesses enough. They all played a huge part in making BreastFest happen. Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of local businesses, and we are so grateful that so many chose to get behind BreastFest and Breast of Friends.”

The funds raised will support the Breast Care Unit and Cancer Care and Treatment Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, helping Breast of Friends continue its work improving patient care and experience.

Breast of Friends thanks all volunteers, sponsors, performers, stallholders, supporters, and attendees who contributed to the event’s success.

Together, the community has shown what can be achieved when people come together for a meaningful cause.
