King’s Lynn Hospitals League of Friends (League of Friends) was registered as a charity in 1953 (Registered Charity No. 207408).
In that time a willing band of volunteers, including those who staff the League of Friends Shop in the QEH’s main entrance, have tirelessly raised millions of pounds which have been spend on essential equipment for the hospital. The League of Friends are proudly supported by their long standing patron Valeria Viscountess Coke.
The League of Friends continue to generously support the hospital, raising over £119,000 towards the reconfiguration of the Emergency Department including 10 Dräger monitors, 10 Stryker trollies, an ECG machine, defibrillator and a resus trolley. Since the beginning of this year alone, the hospital and patients have benefited from over £50,000 worth of new equipment including:
- Talking cube clocks and radios to support patients who are visually impaired, with hearing difficulties or living with dementia, to be able to tell the time and feel connected with the world.
- Hearing loops that will allow patients with hearing impairments to communicate with confidence.
- iPads to engage children whilst waiting in recovery.
- Upgraded chairs for the Emergency Department waiting areas to enhance patient comfort.
- A much need hoist system for West Raynham ward.
- Thoughtful and soothing artwork for patients and their families in end of life care.
- Digital devices on rolling stands to provide easy access to Language Line, a service that supports translation services for people and British Sign Language making QEH more inclusive and providing an enhanced patient experience.
- Mobile charging points for our patients to be able remain connected to their friends and families whilst receiving care.
- Much needed updated equipment for the Fracture Clinic including treatment chairs, patient trolly and procedure cart.
